Description

In 1995 The Thematic Museum of Trade Ceramics was established with the help of Japanese experts. With 368 artifacts dating from the 9th - 10th centuries to the 19th century found at archaeological sites in Hoi An, it has vividly reflected on the ceramic trade route at sea in previous centuries, when the Association An is also a place for commercial exchanges on the sea of East-Western-Asia-European merchant ships. This is a typical two-story house with a wooden balcony built around the 19th century. Here, it is possible to see the overall typical space of the ancient house architecture in Hoi An, divided into 3 parts: the front house, the back house and the toilet. The courtyard is arranged between the front and rear houses, the kitchen and toilets are at the rear.

Vietnamese ceramics has a long history of less than 2000 years. But so far, archaeologists have only found Vietnamese pottery entering the commercial ceramic market starting in the 14th century. The earliest evidence of Vietnamese commercial pottery is a piece of blue-green pottery found in the temple. grave in Dazaifu (Japan). This tomb dates back to 1,130. Two centuries later - the 15th and 16th centuries can be considered as the most brilliant period of Vietnamese commercial pottery. During these two centuries, Vietnamese ceramics have been exported to many countries around the world such as Japan, Southeast Asian countries, the Middle East and certainly to European countries. So far, archaeologists have found 32 archaeological sites in Southeast Asia with Vietnamese ceramics, including: Malaysia 9 sites, Brunei 2 sites, Indonesia 11 sites, Philippines 10 sites.

Vietnamese commercial ceramics of the 15th - 16th centuries have been identified as being produced from major centers such as Hai Hung, Bat Trang in the north and Binh Dinh in the south. Hai Hung Center played a major role in the production of commercial ceramics in Vietnam at this stage with famous kilns such as Chu Dau, Hop Le, Can... The products of these kilns are blue-and-green ceramics and ceramics. paint color on enamel. Binh Dinh Pottery Center with kilns: Go Sanh, Go Truong Cuu, Go Hoi, Go Cay Me... The products of these kilns are monochromatic ceramics with turquoise and yellow-brown colors. Entering the 17th century, Vietnamese commercial pottery was suddenly absent from the world market. So far, only Vietnamese ceramics of this period have been found in Japan. The Japanese ceramic market continues to import products of Hop Le kiln (Hai Hung) with bowls and plates painted with blue and rust chrysanthemums on the white glaze background and crockery of the central kilns such as: My Xuyen, Phuoc Tich... (Thua Thien Hue). Thus, within 4 centuries, Vietnamese commercial pottery has contributed significantly to promoting economic and cultural exchanges between ethnic groups.
